DuPont Canada Inc. is a diversified industrial company serving customers in Canada,
the United States, and 40 other countries. We operate in a wide range of markets,
where we offer our customers DuPont and complementary third-party products and services.
Some of these products include synthetic fibres, polymer resins, liquid packaging
systems, automotive finishes, crop protection products and industrial chemicals.
Headquartered in Mississauga Ontario, the company serves global markets through
a number of subsidiaries in Canada, the United States, Mexico, France, the United
Kingdom and India. Technology research and development activities are conducted
at our Research and Business Development Centre at Kingston, Ontario, and at most
plant sites.
Highlights of our Sustainability Performance:
- Global Mission to Create Shareholder and Societal Value while reducing our Environmental
Footprint throughout the Value Chain.
- Challenging set of Sustainable Growth Goals for 2010, bringing economic, societal
and environmental pursuits together as the driving force of business strategy.
- Performed better than the average of the top 50 industrial companies in Canada
during one of the worst economic downturns in the past two decades.
- DuPont Canada's wholly owned subsidiary, Enhance Packaging Technologies Inc.,
acquired Liqui-Box Corporation of Worthington, Ohio in May 2002. The combined business
will operate as Liqui-Box, a DuPont Canada Company. Products packaged with the Enhance*
System are shelf stable for up to one year, without refrigeration. The package is
also tamper-evident. The lower cost of packaging, shipping and storing of these
aseptically packaged goods means lower prices for consumers and cost savings for
local food processors, distributors and retailers. Pouch packages can reduce trash
disposal by up to 80% by weight and 70% by volume when compared to traditional packaging,
and are 100% recyclable.
- Began a four-year program with Technology Partnerships Canada (TPC) to develop
key components for the emerging fuel cell industry. Technology Partnerships Canada
will invest $19 million in DuPont Canada's Fuel Cell research. The Company's unitized
fuel cell development program will concentrate initially on direct methanol fuel
cell (DMFC) applications. DuPont Canada is creating a pilot development facility
within its existing Research and Business Development Centre in Kingston, Ontario
to evaluate and test products for performance and durability in simulated fuel cell
environments. Fuel cells are expected to find application in areas ranging from
portable electronics, to off-grid stationary power, to longer-term use in passenger
vehicles.
- Second-time winner of the Voluntary Challenge and Registry Inc. (VCR) Leadership
Award in 2001, recognizing extraordinary commitment, action, best practices and
leadership toward the voluntary reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.
- Winner of the CCPA 2002 Excellence in Safety Award. This award recognizes CCPA
member companies who have demonstrated excellent safety performance as measured
by Total Recordable Incident Rate over a period of 5 years. Nine companies qualified
for this award in 2002. DuPont Canada is the only CCPA Member Company in its group
size to have won this award in every year since its inception in 1997, i.e., 6 consecutive
years.
- Reduced total emissions, including greenhouse gas emissions (excluding CO2) by
85% since 1990.
- Established the Social Innovation Enterprise to pioneer new approaches to creating
societal value with non-profit organizations and social leaders, by adapting and
applying our competencies and knowledge in innovation to societal needs.

at all DuPont Canada sites. These programs include Community Advisory Panels (CAP's),
