- EnCana actively participates in various multi-stakeholder groups in an effort to increase corporate sustainability performance and awareness. Such groups include the National Roundtable on the Environment and the Economy, Excel Partnership, Product Stewardship Roundtable, Alberta Ecotrust Foundation and the Clean Air Strategic Alliance.
- In 2002 EnCana was awarded a bronze medal in community relations by the Corporate Knights (50 Best Corporate Citizens in Canada). Specifically, EnCana was recognized for achievements in working with aboriginal communities in Western Canada and innovative HR policies such as matching employees' charitable contributions dollar for dollar.
- Winner of the 2000 Emerald Award for Environmental Excellence presented to corporations that demonstrate their commitment in projects that protect, preserve, enhance and sustain the environment. The award recognized EnCana for a land restoration project on company-owned lands that has since become a partnership with Ducks Unlimited to create cattle grazing sites away from waterfowl nesting areas.
- EnCana operates the largest CO2 sequestration project in Canada (Weyburn Enhanced Oil Recovery Project). 1.2 million tonnes of CO2 is injected into the reservoir every year that would otherwise be released to the atmosphere.
- EnCana has reduced its annual greenhouse gas emissions by approximately 4 million tonnes through improved operational performance and technology upgrades. EnCana is a gold level VCR reporter and member of the VCR Champions in Action council.
