- When proposing its Genesee Phase 3 project, a 450 MW coal-fired expansion, EPCOR chose to install the most advanced coal-combustion technology, move beyond regulated limits for emissions, and made a voluntary commitment for GHG emission reductions to natural gas combined cycle equivalency.
- In November, 2000 EPCOR participated in the largest (at that time) trans-Atlantic carbon emission reduction trade. The trade involved a purchase of 50 000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions offsets from Fortum Corporation of Finland.
- EPCOR's generating stations operate at a level less than the license approval limits for emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur dioxide (SO2).
- EPCOR customers have the opportunity to participate in the Green Power Program which ensures the production and use of more environmentally friendly, renewable power options.
